Winch and rigging system for David Robinson’s Windward Calm sculpture

This is the result of an inspiring work by artist David Robinson at Gordon & Leslie’s Diamond Health Care Center in Vancouver.

Our Windward Calm Riggings System include a custom winch that can allow the sculpture go up and down with a speed of 0.1 ft/min.

The winch is composed of a 0.37 kW gear motor, a double stage transmissions, a drum of 6’’ diameter and a redundant safety brake. All the automation and coding were done by SCI to respect the amazing vision of M. Robinson.
